Bullshit. The non-word 'arse' was coined by people obsessed with avoiding so-called 'bad words' like 'ass'. There are already plenty of words with multiple meanings so if you have an agenda against that, you have a lot of other new words to invent.

Wrong! The word ass is derived from proto-Germanic *arsaz, ultimately from PIE *h₃érsos (don't ask me how to pronounce that). Hence Old English ærs and ears (the æ (asc; pronounced ash) makes a short a sound and the ea is equivalent to the modern long a), eventually coming to Modern English arse, which latter lost the r before the s (same happened with burst/bust and curse/cuss).
