The drummer is pretty entertaining, but the band and stage remind me of too many schlocky Christian rock bands I've heard and even played in over the years. Dodgy

My favorite is almost too popular so it would be easy to think that's why he's my favorite. But I've been in awe of him ever since I woke up to Rush's "Tom Sawyer" off the "Moving Pictures" album. But it's not only his technical skill and heart for the music, but he's a great lyricist as well.

This is an 8 minute video so most will want to skip it, but at least check out the first 10 or 20 seconds to check out this cat's drum kit!

I give you Neil Peart!

the best that ever lived. It's hard to do this because of styles. If you put it in rock or jazz and make it so you can decide. it's apples and oranges. This was Frank Zappa's favorite drummer. Zappa only used the very best players.

I like the groove this guy has going.

I typically couldn't give much of a shit about drummers. Not because they suck but because I can't figure out how they do what they do. I can play guitar but I can't even play drums in rock band on medium. It's brain hard.

But a drummer I like isn't even a drummer anymore unless he is begged to do it.

Dave Grohl.

I think he sucks as a song writer and he's ho hum as a guitar player. But when he plays drums, he is fuckin playing them.

I think they are or were at the time, but some of their more recent songs have me guessing. "No Response" being the most intriguing. Music is music, I don't care what they believe on the side (their lyrics hardly cross into Christian territory, except on rare occasions). Hear for yourself:

Quote:I want a gun fire in my head
I want a gun fire in my head
I got enough faults left for dead
I want, I want.
I'll bury in my head in the sand
I'll bury in my head in the sand
I won't pretend I understand
I don't, I don't.
And live it all as black and white
And tell me what is wrong and right
I don't suppose that anybody knows
And maybe when we reach the end
we'll ask imaginary friends
why no response
I've spoken my piece in the dark
I've spoken my piece in the dark
I've spoken just like I was taught
I'm caught, I'm caught.
I've noticed my sense in the cold
I've noticed my sense in the cold
I've noticed some boys in the cold
I'm done, I'm done.
And live it all as black and white
And tell me what is wrong and right
I don't suppose that anybody knows
And maybe when we reach the end
we'll ask imaginary friends
why no response
And live it all as black and white
And tell me what is wrong and right
I don't suppose that anybody knows
And maybe when we reach the end
we'll ask imaginary friends
why no response .

Better without God, and happier too.
