Your Political Beliefs ~ The Political Compass
It is important to know where you stand on the political spectrum for
personal reasons and social reasons. I encourage all of you to take this
test and post your results here. I'm interested to see where you folks stand.

RE: Your Political Beliefs ~ The Political Compass
We've all mostly taken this test in another thread. However, why is it important to have a label for personal and social reasons? These tests are not truly probative of anything, and trying to define people into fixed boxes only serves to divide us into "us" and "them" dichotomies that create the type of divisiveness we currently have in the US.

I reject not only this test and what it represents but the common labels of "liberal" and "conservative" as most people are far more nuanced and complex in their views then the screaming heads on TV would ever have you believe.

HEAR! HEAR! It does seem we're on the same wavelength, once again.

I took the test a while ago.

I'm apparently a left wing liberal, though the way modern liberals act with the reverse racism and the "if you don't bend over and take it up the arse from other people you're a nazi" which pisses me off so much and makes me not want any part of the world apologist "only white people can be bad" bullshit the test must mean old fashioned Liberal or something.

I think Jesus would be like 10% more liberal that Stalin, but just as left.

RE: Your Political Beliefs ~ The Political Compass
I agree this type of test is no true indicator, since the questions and answers illicit absolutes. There's no mid-line. (i.e. Sometimes, not always, etc..) Also, given that, one can be off on their answer because they do not always see the answer as black and white(agree/ disagree) or stark black and white (strongly agree / strongly disagree)

That being said:

RE: Your Political Beliefs ~ The Political Compass
The interesting part about this is if you look at the page on their site that has the ratings for the candidates in the 2008 Presidential Election, nearly all of them are in the upper right quadrant. Says a lot about how relatively conservative America is, and how ungrounded claims of Obama being a leftist are. He's not even close. Sarah Palin wants small government? According to the chart, she is more authoritarian than Obama is.
