RE: Your childhood in one sound
My dad worked from home for part of my childhood, so I strongly remember falling asleep to the sound of him typing very loudly on his computer right outside my door (he's a computer programmer).
Apparently his habits didn't change after he moved out; a couple years ago my niece (she was probably 3 at the time) was playing with a spare computer keyboard and I asked her to imitate her grandpa. She started pounding really quickly and made a very grumpy face. Yep, that's about right Smile

Engines and tools and guns.

NOTE: Member, Tomasia uses this site to slander other individuals. He then later proclaims it a joke, but not in public.
I will call him a liar and a dog here and now.

The sound of a Minneapolis-Moline tractor at full throttle. The damned things had no mufflers back in those days. Mufflers reduce the fuel economy of the tractor and increase the farmer's costs. I had to drive the thing almost every day during the summer, starting when I was 14, maybe younger. I'd finish with the sound ringing in my ears. I'm surprised I'm not deaf.
