It's like hashbrowns with bacon cooked in -- with sour cream.......

But - with a density closer to plutonium than hash browns.....

.....

Eat a couple pieces - drink a couple beers -- you're not getting up from the table anytime soon...

Dad makes that stuff. The secret ingredient is a couple of cooking spoonfuls of bacon fat. Also known as the quadruple bypass special.

For maximum effect, serve with "Sit and Stay" pancakes.

My dad grew up in Lithuania. Never told me about this stuff. Sounds (looks) pretty awesome.

My grandmother (dads side) taught my mom to make it.....

It's not real popular in the US either -- as I think it's outlawed by the Surgeon General.......................... When it's cooked correctly -- you get this serious chrunchy bottom - and top -- and it's soft in the inside........... It's awesome with the Lithuanian Kelbasa -- which is a very dry and peppery sausage... And a few Svyturys of course (Lithuanian beer)....

So far, Thai and Indian, but I haven't had enough of either to be familiar with all of their dishes.

It's like Kartoffelknoedel with bacon in them. Then pan-fried.

Sorta, kinda, not really.....

Kugelis is oven baked -- in a deep pan -- usually about 14 inch x 8 inch - 2 inch deep -- and it's about 1 1/2 inch thick.... cut out in squares....

Mexican and Italian, mainly. Mediterranean food in general sits well on my palate.

Southwestern food; everything is a variation on a tortilla, meat, cheese, and salsa.

Nachos?
Tacos?
Burritos?
Chimichangas?
Fajitas?
Quesadilla?

Tortillas, meat, cheese, and salsa.

But Greek gyros and German reuben sandwiches get a special shout out.

Peppers are great, but they're not as fundamental or ubiquitous as the other four ingredients.
