RE: Your single omnipotent act?
I would create a universal power source that could power any device. It would follow every person and stay within a few feet of them but emite nothing harmful. It could be used as a light source as needed and would respond to thought. It would be powerful enough to be used by any size spacecraft. This source would never deplete and each new person born would have their own access to it.

There is only one safe thing to do with a power like that (as the posts thus far prove): use it to make it forever impossible for anyone to ever get anything like it ever again.

Unless used for cheese. Cheese would be OK.

Remove religion from the world

Honestly, this would be the least helpful.

Why not just create a utopia, or simply will everyone to be happy?

Removing religion could remove many people's happiness, and people would find more reasons to fight. It's human nature, conquerable, but innate.

Thinking about it...

I'd use my single omnipotent power, to give myself infinite omnipotent powers.

Makes sense...

World without Christianity:

No Crusades, No Westboro Baptist Church, No Spanish Inquisition.

World without Islam:

No World Trade Center bombing, No burqas.

Alcohol makes people happy; we should give it to all the little children, don't you think?

But why do an action that might make people happy, why not just will everyone to be happy and see how the universe accommodates for that? Unless you're one of those rare sadists who believes some are undeserving of happiness.
