Kinda hard to tell the size. Is it metal or plastic?
Maybe the top of a perfume bottle?

I was thinking that too.

It's have to have been a very extravagant perfume bottle, though; a metal stopper with implanted jewels and such an ostentatious design, I mean.

I agree, I think it's the top of a perfume bottle. You could also do a google image search and see if anything like it pops up...

I dunno...it looks too big for a perfume bottle.
Maybe a fancy inkwell top?

First thing I tried. The results were.. less than conclusive. Unfortunately, Google's image search isn't very precise; I got mostly jewellery pictures back.
Google also decided that everything had to have no colour. Silly Google.

Google images under "crown-shaped decanter stoppers" turned up similar looking items.

My guess is that once adorned the top of a tiny bottle that said "drink me!" a la Alice in Wonderland.

So many cats, so few good recipes.
