I think the bible implies free will for the same reason that unfogged pointed out. That story wouldn't even make sense to Christians without free will being implied.

Discovered that the Bible is now scientifically unsound? It's your choice not to believe it!!!

Apart from things yet discovered.. Free Will is probably the only weapon left in their arsenal.

They will choose free will. Not sure why. It's not particularly potent or compelling.
