a "mate" for lack of a better term
Oh. That's much harder to find.Undecided

You've probably heard it before, but there's no "magic spell" with this......you just have to get out there and look.

There's absolutely no other way it can happen.

Since you've never had a girlfriend before, the feeling of lacking experience is probably building up, but it's never too late. Not everyone has serious relationships in their 20's. I'm 31 and I've only had one "serious" girlfriend.

I've never had a girlfriend at all serious or otherwise, never.

Ok, you need to explain what you mean by "I don't get on with people all too well".

What happens exactly? Does it happen with everyone or just specific people? Have you been with prostitutes? What kind of person are you attracted to, initially when you see them?

Once again, not the end of your life.

An earlier poster said something about meeting people online. Maybe this could help you get moving?

You could look up chicks without putting yourself at risk for immediate discomfort; if all starts out well though, you still will have to approach them in real life.

RE: bearing my soul
I recommend you seek professional help as well. Not because you were never in a relationship, but suffering from social anxiety myself, your problems seem very familiar.

And as for finding a girlfriend, I also encourage you to try your luck online. I found my current partner online as well. It is a great way to find people who have similar issues or traits, therefore easier to connect with someone without the danger of humiliating oneself.

Some people are not meant to end up with a long-term contract.

Some are destined for Pay As You Go, short-term contracts.

Why single-source when you can multi-source?

Is there anything else at play that you haven't mentioned? Do you think you could benefit from an antidepressant or anti-anxiety medication? What were your teen years like for you?
