bible
I'm thinking of memorizing one of the books of the bible as a sort of challenge and also because I think it would be useful for me to know.
Any suggestions on which one I should choose.

Genesis 1 and 2. They are a constant topic of debate, full of contradictions with each other and are the foundation of four very evil religions.

You can lead a theist to reason, but, you cannot make him think.

Where the part where Jesus gets all uppity and declares that his followers must hate their family?

... I'm not trying to be helpful. I tried to read the Bible, never got past Genesis 1: most vapid book I ever read so I'm not exactly up on the things people should read in it.

RE: bible
Better off memorising Shakespeare.

It has much more depth and better jokes.

Start with Hamlet.

Memorize a chapter of Fanny Hill instead. It will do you more good.

RE: bible
Genesis would be a fun one, since I feel as though I understand Genesis well. Although I was thinking possibly a gospel.

Also I wouldn't mind memorizing some Shakespeare as well, I would love to learn Hamlet. I just feel as though the bible has a nice set up for memorizing. Being nicely divided into chapters and verses.

Also Since I'm a devote Catholic who is at a very Catholic university, Memorizing a book in the Bible is fairly useful.

Psalms should keep you busy for a while. Big Grin

As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
And I will show you something different from either
Your shadow at morning striding behind you
Or your shadow at evening rising to meet you;
I will show you fear in a handful of dust.
