Wells Creek coming in from the south makes for a nice bunch of white water.
Big cave to the left under the falls.

That was beautiful. I'll have to go there some time......in the summer. It's too cold for me in November. I think the Mt Baker ski area is about ready to open. They got some decent snow there in the last few days.

Looks like it will be a while yet. Too socked in for great views but the mental health aspect was there.

Shit, son, step back from the edge! Gasp

He said "Nooksack!" Laugh out load

We'll get there someday. Beautiful country!

I was behind the fence, don't worry. 11 people have removed themselves from the gene pool there over the years.

I'm looking forward to winter field ops. Nothing more satisfying and cozy than a well built snow shelter Smile

Spent a lot more time on the peninsula as a kid, but I still immediately recognize a lot of the landmarks you post.

This is what the road looks like in a typical year near the ski area.

When I was a kid we lived a mile from Donner Summit near Tahoe. Yeah, I know about snow.

I read somewhere that the Donner Summit area had something like 75 feet of snow one winter. Gasp

Edit: I think Mt Baker holds the record though. Something like 95 feet or something crazy like that. I believe the Cascades and the Sierra's have the deepest snow levels in the US. They get MUCH more snow than the Rockies or anything on the eastern side of the US. The Donner Party people had no idea how much snow could fall. They just couldn't conceive of such snowfall. It has something to do with the Pacific storms that come in and just dump truck loads of snow on the mountains out here.

RE: camping
Mt. Baker holds the record at 95 feet . This is far too much of a good thing. they also had 25 feet in a month up there. No, I have never gone skiing up there.
