Iron Maiden has been my favorite band since the Piece of Mind album came out in 1983. I've seen Maiden 7 times -- most recently on July 5th at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, CA. I've even met Dave Murray!

And I've seen Megadeth 5 times -- the 6th time will be coming up on October 4th. Oh, and I've met Dave Mustaine and David Ellefson, too!

Some of my other favorites that I've seen are:
Alice Cooper (3 times)
Scorpions (4 times)
Blue Oyster Cult (4 times)
RUSH (1 time)
Yngwie Malmsteen (2 times)
Metallica (2 times)
Slayer (2 times)
Motorhead (2 times)

And some not so classic metal favorites:
Buckethead (6 times)
Ghost (3 times)
Alice in Chains (1 time)
A Perfect Circle (1 time)

There exists a thread for all subgenres. Hasn't been touched in ages.

OOH!!

I've recently been getting into my "classic" metal. I'm a big metal head as it is, and I've always liked some of the bigger bands that have kept on rolling over the years, although recently (thanks to some input from my dad) I've been picking some of this up:

Dokken
Twisted Sister
Dio

And tons of other stuff. If anybody has any recommendations for me, I'll happily check them out Smile

RE: classic metal
This reminds me of several weekends in the 80's out with my friends driving way too fast with this on the radio.

RE: classic metal
Loves me some classic metal -- KISS, and later, Judas Priest made me want to play lead guitar. I regularly jam to Rush, AC/DC, and Sabbath, and write my own originals as well in a similar vein. Other classic faves include Maiden and Soundgarden (who are I guess old enough to qualify as "classic" nowadays -- I listened to Badmotorfinger driving back roads home from work today, and it slays.)

Some of the songs I play to keep limber:

I saw them in April of 93 at San Jose State University. They put on one of the best shows I've ever seen. Crowd energy, great harmonies, and songs that were nailed down. Big on AiC, here.

Very cool! I've always loved AiC but for some reason I never made it to a show until last year -- October 7th at the Masonic in San Francisco.
