RE: dates on herod the great
BC and BCE are the same thing.

BC means Before Christ.
AD means Anno Domini - latin phrase meaning "in the year of our lord" for dates after Jesus' birth.
Since science realizes that not everyone is christian or even thinks this christ person existed, the religious references have been replaced with secular references.
CE means Common Era.
BCE means Before Common Era.

If the date is 4 BC then yes, it is 4 BCE.

So if Herod died 4 BCE... he died 4 years before what people would think of as the birth of Jesus.... before common era Shy

I think in the end, I just feel like I'm a secular person who has a skeptical eye toward any extraordinary claim, carefully examining any extraordinary evidence before jumping to conclusions. ~ Eric ~ My friend ... who figured it out.
