forum date format
when I pull up a profile of someone and look at the joined date is it the
American way. MM-DD-YEAR. or is it the way the rest of the world does it DD-MM-YEAR?

in other words, did I join TTA Oct 5th or May 10th?

I give tours at a couple of local historic sites and last weekend we had a couple from Scotland who signed into the guestbook and dated it "2-5-2015". The people behind them were all confused because they didn't understand why nobody had signed since February. It was mildly amusing.

Unfortunately - to save computer storage - they only used 4 digits for the year - so in around 7985 years the whole thing's going to crash anyway.

But - it'll provide a bunch of jobs for a year or so to implement a patch....

The one true date format is YYYY-MM-DD.

Give me your argument in the form of a published paper, and then we can start to talk.
