so this isn't a short term issue

Time to get over it.

Plenty more fish in the sea.

Chances are you'd gotten tired of her by now anyway.

I will call him a liar and a dog here and now.

Give yourself a chance.

And you cannot answer the question because you did not get that extra year.

Plenty of girls at the market. Thumbsup

My first love kicked my ass too. It took me around a year to finally find the strength to move on. Once I kicked some bad habits, I was finally able to move on and handle other relationships. Once you get over the first dose of pain that rejection causes, you handle it better in the future.

well I don't really have any habits I want to kick

its not so much the pain as it is the feeling of wanting to keep trying for some reason

But she doesn't want to keep trying. I know it's so hard, but you've got to let her go.

It's OK to love someone who doesn't love you. Just don't get sucked into the traps. Don't try to control them. Don't think you own them or have a right to them. Don't blame them for your state of mind. You are responsible for your own mind and your own well-being.

Give me your argument in the form of a published paper, and then we can start to talk.

There is no best destiny or one true love. If you want to torture yourself with that kind of thing, understand that it is your rigid thinking and attachment to particular outcomes that is the cause of it.

What I have finally come to understand and believe at a deep level, and it's taken me nearly six decades, is this: no one is "all that". No one is worth it. Including you.

This can be depressing or liberating depending on how you choose to respond to it.
