Everytime you lie Mother Mary cries in heaven.
That's what the nuns told me in grade school. ![]() Science is the process we've designed to be responsible for generating our best guess as to what the fuck is going on. Girly Man |

RE: lies or the truth?
I almost never lie, but I've become very good at telling the truth though

RE: lies or the truth?
Truth is a statement that adheres to the tangible reality. Nothing complicated.
You have a preference for having truth when it comes to spirituality, your preference is knowing the facts; god doesn't exist. So you clearly prefer truth, to a fabrication in that area, as you probably do in many areas. For me, there is no higher virtue than truth and honesty, but if the people you are interacting with do not extend you the same luxry then you can lie as much as you wish. "Treat people as best you can when you first meet them, after that treat them how they treat you" and that. |

RE: lies or the truth?
Truth and lies aren't opposites.
Telling the truth requires some sort of recall of a memory of an event that one experienced and memory isn't always correct, in fact it is never completely accurate. A truth and a fact are different things. A fact is more of a recall of a very recent or current thing. "It is raining" Truth is determined by how one or a culture categorizes facts and assembles facts into a narrative. |

RE: lies or the truth?
I hate lying (although I'm great at it), but if it's a choice between not hurting someone and telling the truth, the former wins most of the time. Life sucks big time as it is, no need for me to make it harder on others if I can help it. No matter what front we put up, people are extremely vulnerable, so sparing them further pain usually takes precedence.
