RE: most messed up bible verses?
For some reason, of all the ridiculous verses in the Bible. This one bothers me most:

2 Kings 2

23 From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, some boys came out of the town and jeered at him. “Get out of here, baldy!” they said. “Get out of here, baldy!” 24 He turned around, looked at them and called down a curse on them in the name of the Lord. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the boys. 25 And he went on to Mount Carmel and from there returned to Samaria.

As an old baldy I highly resent that.Dodgy

yeah I never thought of that really. I guess my justification for it, if there is one, would be that he was trying to demonstrate the power of the Lambs blood in order to prefigure the final "I am a lamb of God being crucified)s blood.

I had a thread about something similar long ago. But here's the verse that tells me the most that Christians aren't supposed to think. Because, of course, gawd...

Why? Because if you do lean on your own understanding you'll figure out god is an impossibility?

But as if to knock me down, reality came around

1 Corinthians 14:34-35 (KJV)

34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law.

35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

RE: most messed up bible verses?
“What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.

For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.

And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death. For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me. Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good. Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful.”
(Romans 7:7-13 KJV)

If anyone can make sense of this, written by Paul, the creator of Christian theology, I'll buy you a beer.
