my gym has a new "class"
WTF: obviously I'm not saying anything to anyone about this- everyone has the right to do their own thing..and each crossfit gym/box is individually owned so it is just up to the owner what kind of environment he wants to nuture.. but I just think this is a place where god should be left out.. UGH.. I would seriously consider going to another box, but ours is the most competitive in the Dallas area and I love that..

We are going to be introducing a new class for our members and members friends starting February 6th, 2013 . We will be holding the Class Wednesday night at 6:15 pm and it will be a time for people to come openly, honestly, and as they are (no judgment) to discuss things of faith, sin, how to achieve their spiritual goals and of course get a workout! God has put so many special people in our lives and sometimes when we first meet them we dont know why. We have those people at Strong, and they are all helping us get this class started. I want to give a special thanks to Andy Luten who is one of those that God has blessed us with to use and has been instrumental in the content / organization / spiritual leadership of the group.

CrossFit Strong Believe!
  • Believe in Yourself
  • Believe in God
  • Believe in Faith
  • Believe in Each Other
How we want the group described by those participating: "an honest place to come openly, just as I am"

Why were doing it: Many, if not most, of us have had life-changing experiences at CrossFit Strong. Weve seen our bodies change and our minds strengthened. What weve also learned is there are people to help if we need it: if someones donkey in CrossFit is muscle-ups, they come to the box to overcome it and learn muscle-ups. We all have other donkeys in our life that range from stress of job, work, life; and others have addictions that we need to overcome. It can be sugar, tobacco, alcohol, lust/porn, or even just being quick to anger! We want you to be able to come to the same fam-uh-lee and, without judgment, receive help and have truth spoken into your lives. We want to provide the same fitness for the soul as the body!

How well do it: Meet on Wedneday nights, talk through a lesson on a general issue (fear, doubt, eating issues, lust, etc.), then split into a group of guys and a group of girls for some gender-specific group time, which will include warming up as guys and girls for the WOD. Were going to start simply and see where the Lord takes this group. Well then all get together for a WOD and do what we do as CrossFitter’s. Lots of logistics are being worked out, so please bear with us as this group begins and starts to grow.

What it is: a safe place where its ok for people to not be ok and receive help and encouragement Devotionals will be given from a Christian Protestant perspective, but all are welcome to come and participate in the discussion (or, importantly, come and not participate, thats ok too). Its not a meeting of perfect people to look down on others or talk about everyones faults, instead its a time for us to draw together as a fam-uh-lee and ask how God would guide us closer to Himself. Proverbs 27:17 will be our foundational verse, as we grow we help others grow (an embodiment of who we are at Strong).

What it is not: CHURCH. All are welcome, regardless of belief, disbelief, or non-belief; but Counsel, advice, and prayer will be from a Christian perspective.

Desired outcomes: spiritual community of believers and prospective believers, faith of participants strengthened, accountability relationships formed (or existing accountability relationships encouraged), and the Gospel unapologetically preached

Whoever wrote that should consult the Gospel of the Apostrophe.

Thank god we don't have any of those here in Melbourne. Least I don't think we do. Bowing push ups not prayers.

Ahh, so that's why my craziest best theist friend was posting crossfit videos on facebook the other day.

When you said a new "class", I was thinking:

Give me your argument in the form of a published paper, and then we can start to talk.

RE: my gym has a new "class"
So now you have to believe in faith ?
Well, I have faith that if I believe that I believe, then I have faith that if I believe, then I believe I shall have faith in belief, and indeed if I don't believe in non-belief, and have faith in belief, then I believe I shall believe, (and not have faith in non-belief). Hobo

Dude that sucks I'm sorry. I don't get the last part lol. "All are welcome but it's Christian" is sort of like.... "Well we welcome everyone... but we don't really since we only accept our ideas. So deal with it." lol.

RE: my gym has a new "class"
Christians need to surround themselves with everything christian related. in fact they don't get other ideas {obviosily I don't mean all of the, but.} to those who only want to be informed and strengthened in a belief I say reality isn't about a strong belief in something. it's about a smart and accurate belief in the right thing and challenging ones own beliefs.

The'll say its just a response to all that new age hippie eastern fitness crap. You've got to balance out the yoga, right? Let alone what some guy told my pastor they teach in martial arts class!

Give me your argument in the form of a published paper, and then we can start to talk.
