RE: need a little help.
There is a lot of historical/recency bias to that manipulating the concept of "lost" by not actually acknowledging what the rules have always since creation altered and created. The 1st amendment gets skewered that way all the time as if it guaranteed any vast universal protection from any action.

There is always going to be violation of these rules by overreach and corruption that is embedding into the system. The flaw is how people think this is a shifting new trend that is worsening... it's really not changing in that regard, it's just happening differently than it did for hundreds of years. So freedom's aren't being "loosed" they've always been less strongly formed than people think. They're altered in ways via interpretation and court ruling adjustment every few years.

It's also so silly and frustrating to notice it's the "bill of rights" they find being corrupted. They really ignore the significance of what the point of the bill of rights are, especially the 9th and how all the future amendments are just as significant. Being older, being the ones that were allowed to be formed at the time doesn't make them more significant. There was many other desired Amendments disallowed for one way or another. Jefferson specifically wanted an Amendment to prevent Monopolies from forming due to seeing the excessive power the East India Trading Company was able to thrust onto the market. He didn't get it and it was until the turn of the 20th century that court rulings and precedent now made that unacceptable. Ideas like the 14th amendment is just as important, and there are cases of the being fought and battled against as well which is just as unsavory as any of the first 10.

Actually, I'd agree that it's in many ways worse than ever, though that website does a poor job of linking some of it due to political bias. For instance, where it says you're in trouble for being Christian, it's a video of a FEMA guy talking to police, in which he (correctly) points out that the actions of the Founding Fathers were, by our standards today, terrorist... the speaker lists several concrete examples of this. Certainly the British Crown found them to be so! And they knew it at the time, too: "Gentlemen, we must all hang together, or surely we will hang separately."

In that list of examples there are not, for instance, descriptions of the damage done by the 40-years-war against Drugs and what it did to the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 14th amendments, or the 30-year campaign of the "tough on crime" on behalf of Prison Industrial Complex and what it did to the 1st, 8th, and 14th. (The 13th, which prohibits slavery "except in cases of notorious crime" is intact, with a burgeoning PIC slave industry turning out products at almost no cost to the employer, shifting that cost to the taxpayers and competitors.) A quick conversation with anyone who is an activist in the accused's/prisoners' Civil Rights field, or a public defender, or a person who has been through the system, can tell you all about that list, and why it's actually woefully incomplete. Sad

The problem is that it's usually white, privileged a-holes who say they're "losing the country", when they're actually the ones with the least to worry about... and why it seems like a recent phenomenon to them. That article focuses mainly on what we're doing to others, based mostly on the 9/11-related USA PATRIOT Act, but in reality we've been at war with the American people (minorities, hippies, and other undesirable groups) for decades. Sad

It's what you get when people are willing to put up with anything to be "safe", and are too lazy, complacent or cowardly to make personal safety a personal responsibility.
