religion is like a stain
Religion is like a stain I can't get out of my favorite shirt. I no longer believe the conservative Christianity I was brought up in, but the thoughts and questions keep showing up. I know it takes time, I just want to know what it feels like to be free.

Welcome to The Forum.

Its good to have thoughts popping up.
Atheism isn't a panacea any more that religion is.

Don't know that anyone can claim total freedom.
An open, not too committed stance anywhere is about as close as I can get.Cool

Welcome to TTA! It does get easier.

Wind's in the east, a mist coming in
Like something is brewing and about to begin
Can't put my finger on what lies in store
but I feel what's to happen has happened before...

Get a hold of Bart Ehrman's "Jesus Interrupted." Not only will it answer some of those questions but he also went through a deconversion from a background similar to your own.

Religion is to enlightenment as Honey Boo Boo is to education.

That is all.

. . . all the gods were stories we told the children to make them behave. ~ Thoros of Myr (Game of Thrones, Episode 3:06)

Let us now raise our heads up and behold the miracle of the stain:

Is it just me our did anyone else notice that "stain" is an anagram of "saint?"
Shocking Coincidence??

Just keep washing that stain with regular doses of logic and common sense. Keep scrubbing it with amusing, yet poignant, videos by DarkMatter2525, and you'll be clean in time for Christmas. Thumbsup

Just remember what the admiral says about religion:
