You might want to look up the definition of that word. Consider

Just to indulge you I've looked it up and replacing a massive gathering of a particular ethnic group with a large crater pretty much fits the definition.

The population of Mecca is 2,000,000. There are approximately 1,600,000,000 Muslims. Mecca represents 0.125% of Muslims. Genocide? Hardly.

It doesn't have to be the ENTIRE population of an ethnic/religious group on earth to qualify as genocide or nothing would. Facepalm

Allow me to stand in stunned silence as you casually brush off the hypothetical death of 2,000,000 people...

You seem to be under the impression genocide is the total destruction of a demographic/ethnic group.

But killing a tiny fraction of a population devalues the word. There have been actual genocides and attempts that word applies to.
What word do we use for those if you use 'genocide' for any ethnically or racially based killing?

How do you get that from what I said? Consider

This is about the meaning of the word 'genocide' - nothing more.
