[split] Office Depot refuses to print a religious flyer against abortion

I would go further in that I think private businesses should be allowed to decide whether or not smoking is allowed in their establishments (smoking as been largely banned where I live). I don't smoke, but I think it's just too much government overreach. The market will decide these things....

The irony is that it's because of the same reason that business are forbidden to refuse service based on sexual orientation or race and that smoking was forbidden in most public spaces. These are question of public health and safety.

Huh? I for one do not smoke and never have. I have the right to work in a smoke free environment period! Its my health that I'm concerned with along with the smell. I did work in several places that allowed smoking before it was banned inside public places. I can tell you it was not pleasent at all.

My point is that the market should take care of these kinds of things.

If there is a demand for smoke-free bars and restaurants, then a savvy businessmen will be there to capitalize.

If you don't like your working conditions, unionize to get the conditions changed, or find employment elsewhere.

I remember hanging in bars in Arizona thinking, it would sure be cool if they let us smoke in here again. Then I came back east and went to Twin Rivers Casino with my bud - where smoking was allowed - and "fuck no!" With the big letters and stuff. That experience cured me of any lingering urge to see smoking reallowed in enclosed public spaces.

If you don't like the smoky bar on 4th street, then go to the smoke-free one on 1st street. When everybody wants smoke-free bars, then the one on 4th street will go out of business, or switch to smoke-free, and we will only have smoke-free bars. This is how the problem should be dealt with. We don't need the government telling us that we all want smoke-free bars.
