That's a different case than having concealed arms for willing teachers. Not just cities like mentioned before, because this happens and has for decades in suburban areas. Those officers generally do more than only guard in the area though. Like run DARE programs.
It isn't commonplace in other Western countries, that's the whole point. The US and Canada are probably the only places in the first world where someone could make a suggestion like giving firearms to teachers and expect to be taken seriously.

Turkey is not and will likely never be part of the EU. That country is as backwards as much of the Middle East.

When it comes down to it - arming every teacher would be overkill.. (pun intended)...

However.

The reason these sick bastards shoot schools up - is they KNOW that they are going to have no opposition, and no surprises when they attack. They do what they do, where they do - because they're cowards. They only attack the helpless. They know that they will have several minutes to wantonly kill helpless people.

IF - if it was legal for teachers to carry a concealed weapon in the school -- that alone might make a coward stay his hand. They are fundamentally cowards and cowards take no chances.

The mere threat of any opposition might deter some of these cowardly fuckers.

And why should that threat not come from school security rather than the teachers? I hardly think that arming teachers will be more of a threat if they already circumvent school security who are presumably armed?

And it might wind up with more shootings. The shooter wouldn't have to bring a gun to school. Right through the metal detectors, walk up behind a teacher and spike him with a plastic letter opener, take his gun and open fire.

Great plan.

I guess you never met a school security guard.

.....

Let's talk about Steelcase. Steelcase is a furniture company out of Grand Rapids Michigan. Steelcase has it's own fleet of semis for hauling the furniture they build. Steelcase did an examination of it's fleets drivers years back, and made the determination that it's drivers with the lowest incidence of accidents had one thing in common. The top drivers all had a college education - and the best all had at least a BS. So - Steelcase made it a requirement that all drivers have at least a BS degree to work for them. It worked. They have one of the lowest accident rates in the industry. The reason given by company people, is that those people willing to put in the time to acquire advanced education tend to exercise better judgement than folks with only a high school diploma.

Knowing when to use a gun is an exercise in judgement, more than any other factor.

Most security guards have only a high school education.

All teachers, have a BS.

The uniformed guard - is visible, and a threat easily dealt with. Shoot him first. A teacher with a concealed gun? Which one? Not so easily dealt with.

Any questions?

What are you talking about with that?

Several shooting that involved going into a room in schools DID have shooters shooting teachers first, then redirect toward students.

And if knowing these laws are passed and legal in that state/county/school whatever, it's pretty much as likely they know that and will act upon it or avoid it and go elsewhere. Multiple cases of these aren't with the intention to get out alive or anything of that sort.

Sounds easy. I guess it is, on TV.

Where is the teacher carrying?

Shoulder holster? Which side?

Small of back? Hip? Which side?

Ankle holster? Again, which side?

Taking a gun away from someone, sounds simple.

Real life is much more complicated.

Remember Michael Brown?

He tried to take away an officer's gun. He was considerably bigger than the officer.

It didn't work out so well for Mike, did it???

Got a better one?? If somebody does, they should speak up.

.............

Figure out how to make the "lone gunman" scenario less attractive to these sick fuckers, and you'll have something......

Get the media to curb it's fucking insane coverage of these events, and glorifying the shooters. (Simply giving their names is all the sick fuckers really want -- fame).....

All the media types seem to have no problem attacking the 2nd amendment as the source of the problem -- and not the 1st......

Guns have been plentiful forever in this country. School shooters? Not so much. While such attacks did happen from time to time in the past -- it's the 24/7 media coverage of such events that have given more of these sick bastards the idea in the first place......
