Only honest people can see the Truth.

Honest people admit when they are wrong, rationalizing, or turning a horrible story into a good one.

You can not simply care bear stare all the evil out of the bible.

The atheist is a man who destroys the imaginary things which afflict the human race, and so leads men back to nature, to experience and to reason.

And there you go. Putting yourself on a pedestal above us lowly, dishonest atheists.
Actually I was congratulating Evenheathen on his honesty when read without cynicism.

Well in that case, thank you for the compliment. How very backhanded of you.

But now I have come to believe that the whole world is an enigma, a harmless enigma that is made terrible by our own mad attempt to interpret it as though it had an underlying truth.

If I patronized fstratzero it would be deceiptful, would it not? But perhaps I could have worded my response to him with more gentleness. I apologize that I was so abrupt.

The abruptness is of no concern. You said that honest people see the Truth, with a capital T. This obviously implies your version of the truth, which is a very subjective view. Given your audience, it doesn't take cynicism to get what you meant.

I'm glad you have peace with your worldview. You seem to be a decent fellow, however a bit obtuse when it comes to atheism. You claim to seek insight into the atheist mind, but continue to ignore anything we have to offer.

In fact, you could say that you are arguing in vain.

But now I have come to believe that the whole world is an enigma, a harmless enigma that is made terrible by our own mad attempt to interpret it as though it had an underlying truth.

Rationalizing and turning a horrible story into a good one is indeed a misguided reasoning and so is turning a good story into a bad one. Let us admit that the hypocritical thinker is revealed in his hypocrisy. For that is the door that is the Christ that no deceipt shall enter through.

I admit bad things happen in the bible. I admit bad things happen in Life. But this is not the end of the story. The end is with a New heavens and earth wherein there will be no such evil ruling. The tree of knowledge of good and evil will have run it's course and healing will begin. Do you despise hope?

RE: the God term
Theists are still feeling bad about that tree of knowledge thing... They're still doing their best to give it ALL back.
