(11-09-2012 07:48 PM)Sinners Prayer Wrote: do you really think your life has the same value of a fish out of water ,you and all you are made up of is maget food or just waiting around for worms to eat the left overs..oh mabe your only here to find a job and work till your dead and the boss just love you so much..or who really understands when no one else will..what is that feeling in your heart that makes you cry ..if there is no God than we should kill or rap who ever we please...see we are like God we want peace and love just as God want from us....its ok im the sinners prayer..why should you ask for someone to forgive you of what you did...hmmm 1) My sense of self-worth has fuck-all to do with the true nature of reality. The fact that I want to be worth more than a "fish out of water" doesn't make it so. Having said that, I'm quite content with life being ultimately meaningless. Unlike some, I have the humility to accept that we're all worthless specks of stardust who will roam and fuck for 80 years or so, then die, never to exist again. The idea doesn't make me cry. It doesn't make me feel insignificant. It's simply the nature of reality, and I accept it like a big boy. 2) I've done nothing for which I must ask for forgiveness. Actually, that's not 100% true; I did do something to someone that I regret fully. I left my first girlfriend - completely shattered her heart - because I was a deluded christian at the time and didn't feel that she was as "strong in the faith" as she should have been. Feeling morally and spiritually superior to her, I left her, because she didn't love God as fully as I believed she should have. That is the one thing I've done to another person for which I feel regret. Aside from that, I have done nothing for which I need to beg anyone - let alone a non-existent omniscient deity - of forgiveness. I'm able to be a good person on my own; to watch my every step and ensure that I don't commit an unjustified transgression against someone. What's more, I don't feel an obligation to bow at the feet of others. I have dignity. I have self-respect. I don't feel the desire - or the "need" - to lament for my faults on a constant basis. Pond-scum though I may be, and irrelevant to the overall picture though I may be, I have a sense of personal dignity that prevents me from feeling like a maggot amongst the gods. If your God is upset about how I live my life, he knows where to find me. I highly doubt that he needs YOU to tell me, or anyone else, that he is looking down upon us with disdain. If he's such a big boy, he's more than capable of doing that himself. Through profound pain comes profound knowledge. Ridi, Pagliaccio, sul tuo amore infranto! Ridi del duol, che t'avvelena il cor! |
