Fork a stick in it and see if it's done?

Why do American's put Month before day?, that's just nuts.
The date ought to go small (day)/ bigger (month)/ biggest (year)

Why go bigger (month)/small (day)/ biggest (year)?
It does my head in!

Same reason people put apostrophes in plurals. Smile

Different reason though. I put it there because I was typing quickly and not necessarily think too much about it. But for USA it is standard to put MM/DD/YYYY.
It's a silly standard, where as mine was just a silly mistake.

Yeah, that bugs me too, especially when you get something like 10/9/17 -- is that October 9, or September 10? When I put a date on a check or something, I always go smallest to biggest, but I also spell out the first three letters of the month and the entire year, so that there is no ambiguity. Today would be 30-Oct-2017. This should be clear to anyone on either side of the Atlantic.

To stay on topic, though, I think that thing in the OP is more a branch than a stick.

Although it's obviously been on an absence of leave.

@DonaldTrump, Patriotism is not honoring your flag no matter what your country/leader does. It's doing whatever it takes to make your country the best it can be as long as its not violent.

The topic was clearly about arguing about anything, so I disagree with your take on whether I was on topic or not! No

I found your last post highly offensive, it almost sounded like you were agreeing with me.Angry
