top 10 movies and why
What are your top 10 favorite movies/trilogies/series of all time, and why? Well here's mine.

1. Psycho: the most original horror movie, and the first of its kind
2. Black Hawk Down: a very in your face, non-hollywood like war movie, brutal and to the point.
3. The Original Star Wars Trilogy: Do you need an explanation?
4. Lord of the Rings Trilogy: It's Tolkien!!
5. Taxi Driver: Sugarless, dark, and complete mental decay of 1 man. AMAZING
6. Goodfellas: One of the classic mob movies, duh!
7. Boondock Saints: A cult classic about south boston vigilantes.
8. Halloween: Another horror classic.
9. Cloverfield: An original, 1st person sci-fi flick. Unlike any other.
10. Red: A story about the sad realities of animal cruelty laws.

1. Forrest Gump
2. Blues Brothers
3. Fight Club
4. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
5. Apocalypse now
6. Life of Brian
7. Snatch
8. Lord of the Rings

10. Back to the Future!

Do you need an explanation for any? They are all classics, if you didn't see some of these, watch it.

Jkshrout did one of these like 15 posts down. Just a heads up in case you don't get many responses.

"Ain't got no last words to say, yellow streak right up my spine. The gun in my mouth was real and the taste blew my mind."

"We see you cry. We turn your head. Then we slap your face. We see you try. We see you fail. Some things never change."

RE: top 10 movies and why
In no real order:

Five Easy Pieces - Great acting, character studies
Naked Lunch - Amazing weirdness
Jaws - Wonderful adventure
Delicatessen - Fun characters
Henry Fool - Great deadpan humor
Treasure of the Sierra Madre - My favorite Bogart film
The Thing - Great atmosphere and effects
LOTR The Return of the King - Epic
Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocolypse - The story behind the story
Insomnia (1997) - Excellent character and atmosphere

We all enter this world in the same way: naked; screaming; soaked in blood. But if you live your life right, that kind of thing doesn't have to stop there.

RE: top 10 movies and why
1- The Return (The 2003 Russian film) - Excellent foreign film, best child actors I've ever seen.
2- Wristcutters: A Love Story - Low budget film that won a few awards. I loved the plot, very original.
3- [REC] - Not quite sure why I love this one. I'm a major zombie film fanatic, this one is only in Spanish.
4- Falling Down - Many people don't like this film but I love the concept of it. Guy gets tired of society and goes on a rampage.
5- Saving Private Ryan - Obvious.
6- The Thin Red Line - Excellent and under rated war film. Very intense and truly captures the horrors of war.
7- 28 Days Later - I still classify this one as a zombie film.
8- Dawn of the Dead - The 2004 remake. I love all of George Romero's work.
9- Hamburger Hill - The best Viet Nam film I've seen.
10- 911: In Plane Site - Points out all of the shady parts of 911.
