» Revenant77x - 15-07-07 14:19 -- They read the bible like a choose your own adventure novel
» Revenant77x - 15-07-07 14:18 -- Liberal Christianity is the Home of "Read half this verse then flip ahead 900 pages and read the second half of verse 99"
» Escape Artist - 15-07-07 13:54 -- I'm not as familiar with liberal christianity, which is where my error came in

» Escape Artist - 15-07-07 13:45 -- Well, I guess they do still believe in original sin too, right?
» Revenant77x - 15-07-07 13:45 -- once you remove the Garden of Eden and Original Sin the whole house of cards falls to the ground
» Escape Artist - 15-07-07 13:45 -- You have to find a chink in the armor, and that chink will be different for everyone.
» Revenant77x - 15-07-07 13:44 -- Liberal christianity falls apart
» Escape Artist - 15-07-07 13:44 -- The problem is getting past that "la la la" barrier.
» Escape Artist - 15-07-07 13:43 -- I do think there is a good bit of hope with fundies, honestly. If you can show something like evolution to be true to them, then all the rest falls apart. There is no need for a creator.
» Worom - 15-07-07 13:40 -- apparently making that argument will make fundies foam at the mouth Tongue
» Worom - 15-07-07 13:39 -- i've read some pretty convincing arguments on the skeptic's annotated bible page that the Jesus figured described was unilkey to be heterosexual
» Escape Artist - 15-07-07 13:39 -- It is not feasible for most folks to leave the country that they think is going to pot, so they do this instead.
» Worom - 15-07-07 13:38 -- exactly EA
» Escape Artist - 15-07-07 13:31 -- eh, the whole thing is just - they're bitching over nothing, really. It has no effect on them, but they think it does because their poor widdle god will be angwy about gay mawwiage. Boo hoo. Sadcryface2
» Revenant77x - 15-07-07 13:25 -- at this point it would have to be a change to the US constitution and given that Marraige equality is polling at 60% favorable good luck with that mate
» Worom - 15-07-07 13:25 -- right gotta love the supremacy clause Smile
» Revenant77x - 15-07-07 13:24 -- so even a change to a state constitution is irrelevant now
» Revenant77x - 15-07-07 13:23 -- Federal Law supersedes State law
» Revenant77x - 15-07-07 13:23 -- That is irrelevant
» Worom - 15-07-07 13:22 -- The bigotry has no end does it?
» Worom - 15-07-07 13:19 -- The proposals, filed by Littleton residents Gene Straub and D’Arcy Straub, a lawyer, each will need 98,000 signatures to be placed on the election ballot, the Denver Post reported. The proposed constitutional amendment reads: “A marriage is recognized as a form of religious expression of the people of Colorado that shall not be abridged through the state prescribing or recognizing any law that implicitly or explicitly defines a marriage in opposition or agreement with any particular religious belief.” The Post explained that any same-sex couple “married before the proposed amendment takes effect or in another state would have their relationship redefined as a civil union, which carries some but not all of the legal rights of marriage.” The second initiative would require the state to maintain a list “of businesses willing to provide services to LGBT couples, so that those opposed could contract with them.
» Worom - 15-07-07 13:18 -- *epic facepalm*
» Worom - 15-07-07 13:18 -- Now, among the strategies to protect First Amendment rights are two proposed voter initiatives in Colorado. One would preserve the traditional definition of marriage by recognizing it as a “religious expression.” The other would require the state to establish a list of businesses willing to accommodate same-sex couples.
